The Massachusetts Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators proudly celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, marking five decades of dedication to the advancement of fire and arson investigation across the Commonwealth. Chartered on April 21, 1976, at the International Association of Arson Investigators annual meeting in Indianapolis, Massachusetts became Chapter Number 20 within the international organization. Since that time, the chapter has grown to more than 500 members and continues to provide high-quality education, professional networking, and investigative training opportunities to fire service, law enforcement, insurance, and private sector professionals throughout Massachusetts.
The Massachusetts Chapter has remained committed to the same principles that have guided the International Association of Arson Investigators since its founding in 1949: promoting excellence in fire and explosion investigation, supporting professional development, and advancing public safety through education and scientific investigation. The IAAI has become recognized worldwide as a leading authority in the field, providing training, certifications, and resources that support investigators in meeting the professional standards outlined in NFPA 1033 and NFPA 921.
As the Massachusetts Chapter celebrates this significant milestone, it also recognizes the dedication of the investigators, instructors, public safety officials, and industry partners who have contributed to its success over the past 50 years. Through continued collaboration, education, and mentorship, the chapter remains focused on preparing the next generation of fire investigators while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. The Massachusetts Chapter IAAI looks forward to continuing its mission of advancing fire investigation and supporting the fire service community for many years to come.
